They tell us where to go, what to feel, who we know. Somewhere far from here, it’s the same. But do they know? Because we’re way too trusting, the state is left with nothing, a broken promise and a heartfelt told-you-so. “If it were up to me then” is all I ever hear now, another record that we just can’t find. Say that you will when you can then you won’t. Hope becomes thrill becomes mad when you don’t. You never intended to follow through; it’s true. Look to the left they have nothing to say. Turn to the right but it’s so far away. Hard to believe that our system is one that we choose. Please don’t leave behind the notion that I’m not to blame. Tides may turn with mobilisation but I’m not sure I feel the same. We march to the beat of their drum. They tell us where to go, what to feel, who we know. Somewhere far from here, it’s the same. But do they know? It’s one against the other, the truth is undercover, our fuel’s the same and it looks a lot like- feels a lot like fear! Let me hear you complain one more time. We march to the beat of their drum.

The sky beneath your feet you soar, tarmac to tyre Endless exile to a time unknown, pendulum through a dryer. Under glyphs a static web of thorns, like a concrete briar. The time for pensive caution has gone, you’re happy to say that you’re wrong. Your gait might be missing, your baggage not listed – inspecting the soles of your feet For the lines that will tell you the places you can go and numbers that float at the back of your head. Baring your business for all to lay witness and yet there is no shame to creep At the doorway they greet you - “oh so nice to meet you!” - now you can leave and forget that it’s there. Mechanical messiah when you beat your wings you carry the hopes of everyone. (And) While the world is on fire, let this decay remind you all of what we’ve done. When the ashen-faced are all gone, returned down to the earth, the new sprogs will spring up and revel in wonders of technological birth. Multiculture evolves into multiverse, world shrink continues to grow. An insidious form of new colonisation, cementing our place on this earth. Endlessly give birth. With divisions forming round a sea of hard-based memories; tell me where’s your culture? Lost out at sea, peaceful annihilation. Wrote back to me; to respond in kind? Blown away with the breeze, lost in my creation. With hands like these…

Skylark 06:13
The way of the world as we know Falters through the ebb and flow We mark these words: they won’t be the last to go. Silence brings an eerie peace Fallen limbs crack under foot Harder now the winds of change have come. If another tree should fall and miss me Should I stay put among the debris? Or should I take a tentative step Finally to admit my roots gave way a long time ago a fact (that) I’ve always known? Another name disappearing Just yesterday, bringing feelings Those born today shall never witness See the world through a broken prism Tomorrow claims another victim The way of the world as we know Falters through the ebb and flow We mark these words: they won’t be the last to go. When will enough be enough for us to see? We endanger our own species taking others so care-free The way seems lost, through the mist we cannot see The skylark cries out pleading amnesty “You’ll miss me.” Face our mortality head on Ask which breath will see the dawn Can you hear the trees mourn? Can you hear them call? The space so small. My fear profound, I pray the dawn Shall steer the path – stay clear… so cold. When will enough be enough for us to see? We endanger our own species taking others so care-free The way seems lost, through the mist we cannot see The skylark cries out pleading amnesty “You’ll miss me."

The shotgun cocked so soon when they were young Exchanging vows as one, on that day in the sun. So soon in life to finally reach the end Or so they thought, the hardship was yet to come. The consequence of fearing life alone Leads two to become one under the guise of love. We’re taught to pick our partners with our gut Instinct trumps the brain, logic will never find the one. Flung into harmony, taught nothing more than family To evermore and always keep their bond. But she was too timid to pull him up, and he was thicker than the mud Slowly piling in the driveway’s end. She struggled to please him, he struggled to work. He couldn’t decipher the always ‘I’m fine’ and the ‘never agains’ she got bored of his lies. It’s hard to blame him – she did it well. Like many young men he’d never been taught how to express emotion or admit his faults. Now we believe that they’re destined to fail; With half of our unions that end in default it’s no wonder when silence is all that is taught. The cost of old society still dictating all of our needs. As infants is how we all breed. In another stately house A richer two attempt the same. If she mutters out loud He’ll be sure to make her pay. Maybe think twice before you judge the way Those around live day to day. When the anger boils over, impulses reign and The mask melts off, rinsed down the drain. She lay there awake thinking of the mistakes she had made to bring his anger. When he burst through the door, words falling to the floor, slurred steps sliding ever closer. Rushing down the stairs, with all the tiny tears in the fabric unwinding ever faster. She knew it was time, the point break in his mind, fight to flight engaged in this disaster. She ran for the phone, on account of the bone splintered from her face when he threw her. He moved at a pace, to leave no trace, that the cord was cut right through her. If the call came through, police knew what to do, they’d discussed it before when they’d seen her. But they were too late, they were always too late. Now the neighbours wished they believed her.

Anchor 04:00
In this bullet you fly away and leave me Gaping, a wounded space I move through. No object nor human can replace An impact that catapults me to space now. I once thought that I could be free Of what you mean. There’s still much more I need to know But time will teach me. I look for the next boat to go But the hull has rusted. I Never looked forward to sea I chose to believe you’d always be there. You’d always be there for me. But now the anchor has freed. When people question my game, response is always the same, I’ve learned to talk like a shill, believe my answers are real. A simple excuse, my mind becoming obtuse, I tend to act like I don’t feel the same. I’m not complacent to change, anymore. Living life in a frame; it’s the palate I abhor. I’ve been wasted, instigated by my own invective ways. With no excuses left for me now, even words I fail to place. I’ll find the real me, without your silver lining. Keep my mind placated while I move forward and free. In absentia you may be, but that’s okay I’ll keep my mind placated while investigating Mind placated while I move forward and free. It’s the one destiny I will face with you here. Find me to live.

Leviathan 05:53
March on sermon engine! Rows of never ending People talk of freedom. Still the cogs keep turning. It’s in the news today; Superficial, outrageous claims. Substantive points are MIA. It won’t take a minute please can you just hold tight – the extraction will be painless. The rule of law underscoring your rights – and their rights to your data. Enter ethereal oppression, Becomes a trending virus. Assimilate today! They already know your thoughts. At least that way you get what you pay for. Wars are not fought on our streets, call it a luxury. Our plastic waste is all we’re reduced to. Our heroes sit on a throne made thorny with lies. Wait for them to catch, remove their disguise. Fall to the floor chime embossed cutlery. Paid for in silence, the blood currency. World eater craves obedient slaves. World eater craves; are we so gone that nothing of worth can be saved? Change our ways; our terms of existence have changed. Before too late- Leviathan cometh! Oh look! Winnie the Pooh holds an orange balloon. There’s egg in our face, lick round the edges- leave none to waste! They come for you; the O’s on your face look for betrayers but there are none to see. Political agendas blur with corporate responsibility. Point a finger at the Crown: reality hits hard when you see it coming back around But that’s okay – so just hit this link we’ll petition all of these bad dreams away! World eater craves obedient slaves. Are we so gone that nothing of worth can be saved? Change our ways; our terms of existence have changed. Before too late- Leviathan cometh! We’ll be the first to answer his call, The rise before the fall. The cost we paid for walking blindly, can we hear him come? Embrace Leviathan’s call! He rises as we fall. The price we paid for walking blindly, pray peace find me, now that he has come!

Dissipate 05:15
I can't take it anymore; can't run a needle through my mind, body's aching all the time Take all that reason you adore. Take all the funny things she said. Let's find a room inside this head. No really it's fine. I'll shelter you from the winds that were foretold. Maybe over time I'll admit to playing ignorant when all you ever told was truth. Long gone yet in the zodiac your force remains, clouding my vision to the stars and yet revealing more than I can explain. Longing nights - pining starts. Now a forest blooms in the heart. I can't take it anymore; can't run a needle through my mind, body's aching all the time. Take all my reasons to implore myself to make that change, take the voice that thinks it's strange. No really it's fine. I don't really need to function anymore. Maybe over time I'll learn which version of you I should ignore. I wander through the frozen food kingdom again. Yellow sticker talking like he's my best friend. I contemplate the cliche as I'm feeling cold. So cold (said no one ever). Maybe I'll die in my own filth surrounded by my lies. I tell a new one each day but to my surprise they don't keep me warm. In longing nights the pining starts. Now a forest blooms in the heart. I can't take it anymore; can't run a needle through my mind, body's aching all the time. Took all my reason, then some more, finding semblance of sense. There's no room inside this head. The pleasantries just hide true feelings at their core. Making it hard to shake that thirst for something more. And while reconciliation is a sincere goal, don't look to find it until I'm out of this hole. Until I'm loving again, we won't be friends.

Republican 05:07
Another day, we’re out of line The shrinking truth hidden in my mind But I can’t see you Eye to eye, and face to face The shared morality that we embrace God forbid we admit that we share in a common truth. Republican: a dirty word The deontology is inferred Believe in your own truth. It’s not your justice that’s weighing on me It’s not your fault that I can’t breathe It’s just the cost of society A casualty lost in the break point. Does justice reside deep in our souls? An infinite feed, forever to scroll? A gavel we hold high over head Ensuring a crushing consensus. Say that we’re fine We travel so far across the centre line Far too far gone Fractured these fissures push us to break Hold out for reason Change may come slow Just like the seasons One must give way soon. We masquerade behind our rights Holding our truth, shining lights On all of our enemies, they don’t understand our values. If I could change this foundation That grounds our liberal nation Maybe it’s our truth? Every day go about our way with our own truth in our hearts. Forget the truth about our roots the republic is from the start. A glowing hope tethered to a rope that keeps our thirst at bay. For our views and the path we choose that lead each one astray. Eventually we begin to see that we’ve run out of the rope we crave. Compromise; our lives in disguise. I can see you. Say that we’re fine We travel so far across the centre line Far too far gone Fractured these fissures push us to break Hold out for reason Change may come slow Just like the seasons One must give way soon. Just another day, we’re doing fine You close your eyes; you close your mind. If I could save what’s left in time You close your eyes; you close your mind. Why can’t we say things aren’t fine? You close your eyes; you close your mind. I wish that we still had some time You close your eyes; you close your mind. Are we so scared to pay this fine? You close your eyes; you close your mind. We’ve been through this, a million times You close your eyes; you close your mind.

Swansong 05:38
A tainted state, restricted, here we lie – constriction of our very souls Rhythmic chains clinking provides the sound, your closest perception of time. Following a click reveals a voice, the only voice you’ll soon care to know. But you can’t hear the sound over the cries of resistance. You don’t know me. Yet claim to use me as the only company for our racing heart beats. You can’t hear the sound over the cries of resistance. How did we get here? I don’t know. Clouding up my blood stream. Invading every space I called my own. How do we leave here? I don’t know. Only darkness guides above me, One I can’t bear to face alone. To be used and abused, to learn the absence of control. To be scared and feel lonely, when you’re never truly alone. There was a time when I thought I was you But looks can be deceiving, and I’m no fool for you. Contemplate the fact of your existence, wonder if compassion has truly gone. Debate which pain is more persistent – the flesh, or knowing you’ll never go home. What brings a creature to such madness? The sheer sense of entitlement, That you’re theirs to control, amongst a creche of absurd play things In a toy box, looming and overgrown. Yet not a vine will you see protrude, nor a weed amongst the grass. A façade meticulously tended. Day and night, bulbs continue to bloom. We’ve been looking for all our enemies, but all our enemies are always hiding deep. Don’t let me be misunderstood. We’ve been looking for all our enemies, but all our enemies reside within our creed. Wouldn’t it be nice to choose. How did we get here? I don’t know. Clouding up my blood stream. Infecting every space I called my own. How do we leave here? I don’t know. Only darkness guides above me, One I can’t bear to face alone. How did we get here? I don’t know. Clouding up my blood stream. Invading every space I called my own. How do we leave here? I don’t know. Only darkness guides above me, One I can’t bear to face alone. There was a time when I thought I was you.

Kaituma 07:37
Hush now child the time has come again Let’s prove our devotion to the cause. Pick up your bag, I know, we must run again Run before the light creeps into our bed. Four acres each we’ll have to lose ourselves; we’ll leave persecution at that door. But for now let’s pass through, c’mon I’ll help you dress. Not the grey, dear you always suited red. We couldn’t wait until the dawn of morning – silence! Pack your bags and break for the border yawning – silence. In the convoy we wait with an adjoining silence. In Jones we trust our money, our homes, our social mobility. Onward we go to a final location we’ll make for our own safety. “But he’s feeding you lies!? It’s all a brilliant disguise; there’s no rainbow in sight.” How can we believe these men who nurture our children on industries? The American dream is a lie told so I might bleed for your own vanity. In the camp we stay but I worry- “silence” How can you look the other way from his rabid ranting? Silence! We hunt to be free, to value our creed, he bites while we feed, it’s madness unleashed. Felling the trees I can feel him slowly chipping away at the minds of our truth, it saps at our youth; when did it become this way? We wake up each morning, our joints are still groaning through our stomachs they make their desperate complaint, yet we have nothing to say. Planting seeds, pushing pills, sound the sirens of industry Have come back with vengeance, our own intervention is slipping further out of reach. But he’s feeding us lies!? It’s all a brilliant disguise, see through hollow eyes. Another evening woken or it’s morning - I can’t tell. Through the bunks we move to (take) our stations once again. Is this our reality or truly madness I perceive? Another sip of silent sorrow while I dream. Don’t try to speak when the hand is pointing – silence Hope he looks the other way, the gaze is haunting – silence. Every man must look out for his own and nothing more. Where men are liars, thieves and our women are all whores. Prepare to drink for a brighter morning… silence. Always suited red.
